Monday — A 35-year-old Mars area man was arrested on charges he exposed himself to a county worker in a courthouse elevator.

But, according to court documents, Seth B. Jelic told investigators “he was adjusting his pants and had to put his belt on correctly while he was in the elevator.” The incident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, left the female employee “alarmed” and “shaken,” documents said.

The woman told investigators she got on the elevator on the fifth floor, saw the man with his pants down and got right back off the elevator before the door closed.

The employee immediately contacted deputy sheriffs and provided a description of the man. Based on the description, the deputies stopped Jelic “putting his belt back on as he walked toward the steps,” documents said.

Investigators said Jelic denied exposing himself and explained he rode the elevator because he was early for a domestic relations hearing in the building's lower level.

He is charged with indecent exposure. He was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge and released on his own recognizance.
