Stobert, Shinsky in national tourney

YOUNGSTOWN — Knoch pitcher-first basemen Alex Stobert and Cole Shinsky are members of the Ohio Glaciers 16-under baseball team playing in the Perfect Game National Championship in Emerson, Ga., this weekend.

The Glaciers, based out of Youngstown, were selected among many team applicants based on their past baseball performance. The team is 15-4 this summer, including a 6-1 record at the recent Beast of the East Tournament.

The Glaciers' 14-man roster includes players from across Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Legion playoffs rained out

The slate of legion playoff games were a casualty of the rain Thursday night.

The four matchups: Center Township at Meridian, Saxonburg at East Butler, Mars at Karns City and Kiski at Valley will be made up Saturday.
