BlueSox crush Paints

The Butler BlueSox wasted no time making Adam Niemeyer’s night a miserable one.

Chillicothe’s starting pitcher was tagged for seven runs (two earned) on seven hits and the right-hander failed to get out of the first inning in Butler’s 9-3 Prospect League baseball road win Thursday night.

A pair of errors by the Paints helped Butler send 12 batters to the plate in the opening frame.

Leading Butler’s 13-hit attack was leftfielder Ty White, who went 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and one batted in.

Tyler Sullivan, David Marcus and Mitch Machi each collected two hits for Butler (15-15 overall, 2-1 second half).

Three Butler pitchers held the Paints (16-15, 1-2) to three runs on three hits. Starter and winning pitcher Larry Wood allowed all three runs (one earned) on two hits in six innings, striking out six and walking six. Cody Jackson (one inning) and Jamie Switalski (two) combined for three innings of scoreless relief.

The Paints host Butler again tonight.
