Allegheny starts $200M campaign
MEADVILLE — Allegheny College has launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the northwestern Pennsylvania private school’s history.
The Titusville Herald reported the “Our Allegheny: Our Third Century Quest” campaign’s goal of $200 million will be used primarily to fund scholarships and endow faculty chairs.
College President James Mullen Jr. announced the campaign Saturday at a reunion weekend to celebrate the college’s bicentennial year.
Mullen said more than 2,100 alumni and supporters have already come forward to donate more than $106 million to the campaign.
The campaign’s five main initiatives are increasing the number of student scholarships; enhancing global learning and internship opportunities; reducing the student-faculty ratio; restoring and maintaining the campus; and keeping the school financially strong through its annual fund.
