The cause of an early Saturday morning fire at this home on the 300 block of Main Street in Bruin is still under investigation.
Man escapes without injuries

BRUIN — A fire destroyed a single-story home on the 300-block of Main Street early Saturday morning.

The blaze was reported at 3:45 a.m., according to 911 reports.

Firefighters said the fire was fully involved when they arrived at the scene.

The home was a total loss.

A man inside the home, who was not identified at the scene, escaped without injuries, authorities said.

His wife and two children — an adult son and a younger daughter — were out of town for the night.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.

Authorities said the fire appeared to start in the front corner of the home near the chimney. The cause is still under investigation by the state police fire marshal.

The brick home was above a two-car garage that did not have any vehicles inside.

The Bruin Volunteer Fire Department fought the fire with the help of about 40 firefighters from seven departments.

It took about 40 minutes to get the fire under control, authorities said.
