Douglas Lee Giesler

Douglas Lee Giesler, 46, of Butler passed away at his home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1968, in Butler to Joyce (Heist) Giesler and the late Daryl L. Giesler.

Douglas was a 1986 graduate of Butler High School, then went to Clarion University where he received his bachelor's degree in education. He was a social studies teacher in various school districts.

He loved playing baseball since the age of 6, and he also enjoyed reading. Douglas regularly attended the First Baptist Church.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Joyce (Heist) Giesler; two brothers, Jody M. Giesler and his wife, Jill, of Clintonville and Troy D. Giesler and his wife, Jennifer of Butler; two nieces; three nephews; and a number of aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Giesler, and his grandparents.

GIESLER — Friends of Douglas Lee Giesler will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be immediately following at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Maitland, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorial donations may be made to the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
