Mars’ Folz to swim for Edinboro squad

ADAMS TWP — Mars senior Francis Folz will continue his academic and swimming career at Edinboro University.

Folz won state titles in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events this season, also winning the 50-yard freestyle title at the WPIAL meet. He helped the Planets win PIAA, WPIAL and Section 3-AA team championships as well.

The son of Frank and Margaret Folz of Valencia, Folz plans to major in political science at Edinboro.

Golfers move on in Open qualifier

PENN TWP — Nikolette Schroeder and Lori Adams both shot a 148 in two rounds Monday at the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier at Butler Country Club. They advance to the U.S. Women’s Open, scheduled July 9-12 at Lancaster Country Club.

Christine Meier (148) is the first alternate and Alessandra Liu (149) the second alternate.
