Retrain state workers

There has been a lot of time and money wasted discussing the possibility of privatizing the Pennsylvania State Store system.

One concern we hear is what would happen to the state workers currently holding positions in the State Stores. The solution is very easy, if the governor and state lawmakers would take a minute and think sensibly.

When you have a problem, it’s good to try to resolve it by resolving another problem at the same time. Why not privatize the State Store system and then take the displaced employees and train them to work with the welfare department doing drug testing of those receiving any type of public assistance? This way, the workers can retain their state jobs while providing a much needed service.

As for the results of the testing, just like most working people in private industry, if they test positive for drugs, they lose the income.
