This is in response to the April 30 letter to the editor titled “Not a moonlighting job” by Ralph D’Antonio, a former city treasurer.

D’Antonio failed to mention in his letter that he quit midterm because he didn’t like one of his co-workers. Therefore, the city had to fill the rest of his term.

I would also like to mention the fact that the clerks in the treasurer’s office spoke with Mr. Smith regarding him being a write-in candidate; all were in agreement regarding his availability. Smith agreed to be a write-in candidate due to the fact that no one was running for city treasurer 4 years ago.

Jeff is always available whenever we need him. He has two qualified employees who can more than handle the majority of work thrown our way.

Remember, Jeff Smith stepped up to help Butler when no one else would.
