Knoch clinches section crown

Knoch baseball coach George Bradley said his kids knew the math.

Even if they lost their last two games, the Knights would have at least a share of the section title.

Knoch won’t need to do any additional number crunching after plating five runs in the first three innings of a 10-4 road win over Deer Lakes on Thursday.

It was the 10th straight win for the Knights (13-1, 10-1) and gave them their first section title since 2000.

“It was very exciting,” Bradley said. “They knew going in that we were going to win even if we lost our last two games, but they didn’t want to share it with anybody.”

Cole Shinsky earned the win, striking out five in 3 2/3 innings of work. Chris Law had three hits and drove in four runs for Knoch.
