Woman arrested, accused of prostitution for 23rd time

A Butler woman with nearly two dozen prior prostitution arrests is charged again with the same crime, city police said.

A patrol officer said he spotted the suspect, 45-year-old June E. Rearick, about 4:15 p.m. April 24 in the front passenger seat of Frank W. Undercuffler’s car at Butler Memorial Park.

Rearick is a “known drug addict and prostitute,” according to court documents.

Undercuffler, 56, of Summit Township told Patrolman Douglas Mazzanti he did not know Rearick and had only met her that day. He claimed he had only given her a ride to the park at her request.

He and Rearick denied meeting for an illegal tryst, police said.

However, Rearick later admitted she and Undercuffler had spoken before that day.

She also acknowledged she worked as a prostitute and told police what rates she charges.

“Rearick stated that she has been prostituting to supplement her income for over 20 years,” according to a police affidavit.

Police said they believe she moved to Butler a year or so ago.

Her criminal record includes 22 previous out-of-state prostitution arrests — 18 in Nevada and four in California.

Mazzanti reviewed the city’s surveillance camera system, which cast doubt on Undercuffler’s account of meeting Rearick last week.

Rearick is charged with prostitution, a first-degree misdemeanor. Undercuffler is charged with attempting to patronize a prostitute, a third-degree misdemeanor.
