Robert and Joan Sherman

Robert and Joan Sherman of Slippery Rock celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family and many friends at an open house at the Worth Township Hall.

Sherman married the former Joan Shay on March 20, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Butler.

They have two children, Lynette Sherman of Sweet Chalybeate, Va., and Shari Sherman Kreutz of Slippery Rock.

They also have four granddaughters and expect a great-grandchild later this year.

Sherman owns Sherman Welding in Slippery Rock.

Mrs. Sherman is a postal carrier for the Slippery Rock Post Office.
