John Giles, president of Future POS, said in a news release, “We want to recognize talent in the local community and encourage students to participate in computer technology.

“I got my start at Butler High School participating in the gifted program and wish that scholarship money and mentorship was available to me back in 1987.

“Our company employs over 40 local residents and most of them are millennials who grew up using technology from an early age. We want to inspire and encourage local students as undergraduates that technology is definitely here to stay.”

Future POS plans its third annual Scholastic Challenge next spring and will expand it to other colleges and high schools.
