Victories over Deer Lakes and Highlands on Thursday earned the Knoch girls track and field team the Section 4-AAA title.

Emily Robb won the 300-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump to lead the Knights (7-0).

Rachel Kroneberg (shot put, discus) and Nicole Cress (100, 200) were both double-winners.

Knoch's boys improved to 5-2 with wins over the Lancers and Golden Rams. Dom Bozzo captured the 110 hurdles and high jump for the Knights, who placed second in the section standings.

Freeport sweeps Shady Side Academy, Springdale — Zoe Pawlak won three events — the shot put, discus and javelin — to help the Yellowjacket girls pick up a pair of Section 7-AA wins.

Freeport (5-0, 5-0) beat the Indians 115.5-34.5 and the Dynamos 131-19.

On the boys' side, Bobby Jendrejewski won the discus and shot put to help Freeport (5-0, 5-0) sweep.

The Yellowjackets beat Shady Side Academy 90-60 and Springdale 132-18.

Derek Boben tallied 12 strikeouts and allowed no runs on just three hits in a complete game to lead Moniteau to a 6-0 win over Cranberry.

Nash Bryan led Butler with seven kills in the Golden Tornado's 25-11, 26-24, 25-15 Section 2-AAA loss to Fox Chapel.

Matt Wetzel had 14 assists and Andrew Hartzell added 10 passes for Butler (5-4, 3-4).

Club Sports Boys Lacrosse

Freeport 8, Fairmont 7 — Stone Haberstroh scored three goals and added two assists for the Yellowjackets in this Wednesday victory. Corey Schrecengost added two goals and an assist while Austin Uric played well defensively.

Freeport's junior varsity posted a 7-3 win as Brennon Riley had two goals and two assists, Matt Straughn two goals for the Yellowjackets.
