Rock sweeps Gannon

ERIE — Slippery Rock University continued to enioy a power surge at the plate this season while sweeping a baseball doubleheader Saturday at Gannon.

The Rock (15-12, 6-8) belted six home runs — three by sophomore Logan Brown — in posting 9-2 and 12-4 victories. Brown added a two-run single in collecting four hits and eight RBI on the day.

North Allegheny product Ryan Oglesby went the distance on the mound in the first game, scattering seven hits and striking out six. It was Oglesby’s fourth complete game of the season as his earned run average for the year is 1.91.

Preston Falascino and Tyler Walters hit their fourth homers of the campaign in the first game. Adam Urbania added a pair of hits.

Kyle Schneider won the second game for The Rock, striking out eight in six innings. He benefited from a seven-run seventh inning that broke open a close game.

Seneca Valley graduate Carson Kessler homered in that seventh frame and had two hits in the contest. Fellow SV grad Jack Graham singled and scored a run in the seventh.

Urbania had two doubles in the nightcap and Jake Nogalo stole home.

SRU and Gannon will complete their four-game series with a twinbill at 1 p.m. today at Critchfield Park.

Women’s Lacrosse

SRU saw its two-game winning streak snapped with a 19-12 loss at No. 19 Bloomsburg.

The Huskies (6-3, 5-1) built a 12-5 lead by halftime. SRU slipped to 4-6 overall, 2-3 in the PSAC.

Kaytlin Callaghan scored four goals and had two assists to lead The Rock. Erin Wilcox scored three goals, Jasey Sanders two. Julie Falk paced Bloomsburg with six goals.

The Rock visits Indiana (Pa.) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Softball

The Rock’s home doubleheader against Clarion was postponed Saturday and will be played at 2 p.m. today.
