John V. Germani

John V. Germani

John V. Germani, 90, of Schenley Avenue, New Castle, passed away Monday at his daughter's home in Hermitage.

He was born on June 21, 1924, in New Castle, the son of the late Rocco and Susie DeSalvo Germani.

He was married to the late Athena “Tina” Pappas Germani, who died on Oct. 23, 2003.

Mr. Germani worked for the Bricklayers Union as a bricklayer, retiring after more than 40 years. He then worked as a bagger at Giant Eagle on Butler Avenue for many years.

He was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Church. He loved his church and reading his Bible. He was also a member of the church choir.

Mr. Germani was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany.

He enjoyed gardening and his rototillers. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Kathleen A. Dombeck and her husband, Mark, of New Castle, Ronald J. Germani of New Castle, Deborah L. Kosciuszko and her husband, Wayne, of Hermitage and Michael J. Germani and his wife, Denise, of West Middlesex, and his seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Germani.

Germani — Visitation for John V. Germani, who passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle.A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Joseph the Worker Church. The Father William Siple of St. Joseph the Worker Church will be officiating.
