Organ pipes will be on display

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday for the community to see many of the 2,685 pipes that have been removed from the church’s pipe organ.

The pipes will be refurbished in Eastern Pennsylvania and reinstalled in about six months.

St. Mark’s pipe organ was installed in 1954 and is the largest pipe organ in Butler. Its pipes range in size from one-half inch long to more than 17 feet long. The majority of these pipes are not visible in the sanctuary during church services.
