SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — The car passenger who died in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Route 422 this morning is a 59-year-old woman from Shenango Township in Lawrence County.

Police say they will not release her name until her relatives have been notified of her death.

The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. when the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt lost control of the car that was traveling east on Route 422 at Fox Road near Living Treasures Animal Park.

The car crossed into the opposing lane and was struck on the passenger side by the tractor-trailer, authorities said.

The driver of the car, a man whose name was not available, was flown by medical helicopter to an unknown hospital.

Rescuers said the road was slush-covered.
