H. Jean Clark Christy

H. Jean Clark Christy, 92, of Sarver, formerly of West Deer Township, passed away Friday at Condordia Lutheran Care Home, Cabot.

She was born on April 12, 1922, in Sykesville to the late Howard W. and Lily E. Null Clark.

She was a 1945 graduate of Sykesville High School and she also graduated as a nurse practitioner in 1974 from Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. Jean worked as a nurse for the Russellton Medical Group for more than 25 years and then at various offices throughout the Alle Kiski Valley.

An active member of the Bull Creek Presbyterian Church, West Deer, Jean served as an Elder and as a Sunday School Teacher for 50 years. She also was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 98 for 30 years.

She enjoyed vacation trips to Canada and Colorado to visit relatives. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Karl A. (Marcia) Christy of Mercer, Judith L. (Rick) Tatrn of West Deer, Joyce L. (Ronald) Maiure of West Deer and David S. (Donna) Christy of Buffalo Township; her grandchildren, Lori L. Thiry, Lisa A. Queen, Joshua T. Christy, Daniel T. Christy, Leah Christy, Lauren E. Maiure, Ronald F. Maiure Jr., Jacob D. Christy, Anna R. Christy, Madelyn A. Christy and Lydia J. Gasienski; her great-grandchildren, Kaden Christy, Cameron Christy, Lile G. Thiry, Gianna Pusateri, Breynn Christy, Alexis Pusateri and Bella Pusateri; and her brother, James Clark of Wesminister, Colo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Christy; her daughter, Jane Gasienski; and her siblings, LeRoy Clark, Martha Brown, Milton Clark, William Clark, Ruth Dunlap, Emma Clark, Dorothy Reiter and Marion Degner.

Christy— The funeral service for H. Jean Clark Christy, who passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, will be at 1 p.m. today in the Bull Creek Presbyterian Church, 224 Tarentum-Culmerville Road, West Deer Township.
