Treys help Freeport top Ford City

The Freeport boys basketball team hit 10 3-pointers — Kris Keppel going 5-for-5 from behind the arc — to lead the Yellowjackets to a 56-51 non-section boys basketball win over Ford City Wednesday night.

Josh Beale scored 20 points and hit four 3-pointers to pace Freeport (11-6). Keppel finished with 19 points.

As a team, the Yellowjackets were 10-of-15 from 3-point range and 6-for-16 inside the arc.

Four A-C Valley players scored in double-digits as the Falcons downed Union, 51-37.

Ellie Thompson led the way for the Falcons (10-4) with 11 points. Morgan Cratty, Erin Logue and Danielle Kaufman each added 10 for A-C Valley.

Lexey Shick led Union (4-12) with 11 points.

Karlee Arendt rolled a 612 series as the Mars girls bowling team ended Butler’s 55-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory at Family Bowlaway.

MiKayla White had a 512 series for the Golden Tornado (5-1) and Baylee Verner had a 501 series.

The Butler boys swept Mars 7-0.

Nick Huff paced Butler with a 685 series, including a high game of 241.

Shawn Marcellus pitched in a 659 series for the Golden Tornado (5-1).

David Howell came in as a substitute and rolled a 278 and a 207 over two games.

Knoch recorded six pins, including one in 45 seconds by Bailey Savage (220 pounds) and one in 48 seconds by Brandon Yobst (152) to down Summit Academy, 60-18.
