KC-Moniteau showdown set

The Karns City-Moniteau girls basketball game on Friday will be a showdown for first place in the KSAC-South after the Gremlins defeated Redbank Valley 49-39 on the road Wednesday night.

Shanel Preston led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points for Karns City (7-2, 2-0). Emily Hegedus (12 points) also scored in double figures for the Gremlins.

The Butler boys and girls bowling teams picked up wins over Knoch 5-2 and 7-0, respectively.The Golden Tornado boys were led by Matt Wetzel, who had a 595 series with high games of 217 and 207. Shawn Marcellus also bowled a 570 series for Butler.Joel Zacherl led Knoch with a 626 series and a high game of 264.Megan Paul, who leads Section 2 with a 203 average, led the Butler girls (4-0) with a 624 series (217-200-207). MiKayla White added a 577 series and a high game of 219 for the Golden Tornado.Chelsea Cimbala led the Knights with a 561 series and a high game of 217.
