Mars stays unbeaten in section play

John Castello led four Mars players in double digits with 14 points as the Planets rolled to an 86-59 win over Deer Lakes in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Robby Carmody added 13 points, Alex Gruber 12 and Nate Sablowski 12 for Mars (12-1, 5-0).

Hampton 90, Freeport 62 — Mason Eddinger scored 21 points for the Yellowjackets, but Freeport couldn't overcome a 3-point barrage by the Talbots.

Hampton drained 19 3-pointers in the win.

Josh Beale added 16 points for the Yellowjackets (8-4, 2-3).

Ryan Dutton added 10 points and Jake Whitmer nine for Slippery Rock (5-5, 2-3), which gave up just 13 points in the first half, but watched the Oilers rally for 16 points in the fourth quarter to force OT.

Grove City 52, Conneaut 47 — The Eagles rallied from a 13-point deficit in the second half for a big region win.

Sam Johnson scored a pair of goals and Jared Hulbert also found the net, but they weren't enough as Seneca Valley fell to Central Catholic, 4-3.The Raiders out-shot Central Catholic 30-14 in the loss.
