Wilmer J. Geibel

Wilmer J. Geibel, 94, formerly of Olive Street in Butler, passed away Monday evening at the Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Ky.

Born on Feb. 10, 1920, in Butler, he was a son of the late Edward M. Geibel and Coletta M. Neigh Geibel.

Wilmer graduated in 1940 with high honors from the Pittsburgh School of Embalming and was a retired funeral director from the Geibel Funeral Home in Butler after 40 years.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where he was also an usher; the K of C Council 866; the American Legion Post 778; the VFW Post 249; AARP; and the Tanglewood Center. He also had been on the board of directors and was the secretary/treasurer for the Calvary Cemetery in Butler until 2006.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Surviving are his four daughters, Judy Campbell of Berlin, Md., Jeanne (Rodney) Koleno of Ketchum, Ind., Linda (Evan) Gollan of Downers Grove, Ill., and Margaret (Jeff) Adams of Ashland, Ky.; his sister, Marilyn Cranmer of Butler; his 16 grandchildren; his 21 great-grandchildren; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Oswald Geibel, who he married on Oct. 20, 1942, and who died on March 27, 1997; his son, Edward W. Geibel; his three brothers; and two sisters.

Geibel— The friends of Wilmer J. Geibel, who passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at theGeibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, to recite the rosary. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Church, 128 N.
