4:17 p.m. Wednesday — John J. Halagich, 38, of East Butler was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness after police found him allegedly intoxicated in Dollar General, 119 N. Main St.Police responded on reports of an intoxicated man inside the store. Halagich was allegedly stumbling as he walked, police said.Police arrested Halagich and found eight empty stamp bags and a syringe in his pockets. He was taken to the city police station to sober up and then was released.

7:39 p.m. Wednesday — Robert S. Grubbs, 33, of Prospect was charged with DUI, recklessly endangering another person, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, careless driving and reckless driving following a hit and run crash on Route 356.Police caught up with Grubb's vehicle at the intersection of Pillow Street and Bantam Avenue in Butler. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.3:38 Wednesday — Brandon Gurowski, 22, of Slippery Rock was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly attempting to steal $125 worth of merchandise from Walmart.6:39 p.m. Tuesday — A 17-year-old Butler boy was cited for careless driving following a two-car accident on Whitestown Road at Home Avenue.Police said a vehicle driven by the teen, who they did not name, struck the back of a vehicle driven by Angelina Rosales, 70, of Butler.Both vehicles were towed.Tuesday — Police said a township resident lost $1,000 in a scam after receiving a message on his computer saying it had a virus.The online service offered three years of anti-virus protection for $1,000. The resident, who police did not name, sent the money through Western Union.Dec. 5 — Brian Anderson, 30, of Butler was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Whitestown Road.The owner of the car, Ellen Sasse, 33, of Sarver, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting violation of title.
