Laverne R. Devore

Laverne R. Devore, 77, of Portersville passed away Tuesday night at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born on March 8, 1937, in Butler, and was the son of Ord Raymond Devore and Cecelia Wenner Devore.

He was the owner of Suburban Aluminum in Struthers, Ohio.

Presbyterian by faith, he attended the Presbyterian Church of Portersville.

Laverne was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Zelienople and the New Castle Consistory. He also belonged to numerous bowling and golf leagues. At one time, Laverne coached the Slippery Rock Elementary Basketball Team and the Prospect Pony League.

He loved to travel and go on trips to casinos. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Laverne is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hand Devore, who he married on Nov. 25 1955; his son, Rick Devore of Harrisville; his daughter, Gail (Bill) Simons of Pulaski; and his five grandchildren, Jared Irwin, Victoria Irwin, Ryan Devore, Cory Devore and Erin Devore.

Devore — Visitation for Laverne R. Devore, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to services at 8 p.m. Sunday from theJay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., Prospect, with the Rev. Dana Opp of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
