Computer user reports scam to police
A Butler Township resident lost $1,000 in a scam after receiving a message on his computer that it had a virus.
The online service offered three years of anti-virus protection for $1,000, according to a report from Butler Township police.
The resident, who police did not name, sent the money through Western Union.
