Jeff Lenzi of Allegheny County bagged a 10-point buck with a crossbow Oct. 10 in Fayette County. The rack netted a score of 166 inches.

That score places the buck at No. 13 in the typical archery category in the Pennsylvania Big Game Records book. The top buck in that category, taken in 2004 in Allegheny County, scored 178 inches.Lernerville driver on rookie ballot

Lernerville Speedway Sprint car driver A.J. Flick of Apollo is one of three drivers on the ballot for the 410 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year award at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa.

That honor will be presented at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa early next year. Other finalists are Austin Houge of central Pennsylvania and Kyle Marten of Wisconsin.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Macy McCall of Slippery Rock has been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North softball event Jan. 3-4 at Kent State University.The Showcase North, a fastpitch event, has more than 2,400 applicants with 264 selected, based on ability, potential, academics, graduation year and coaches requests.McCall plays second base and outfield for Slippery Rock High School. She plays summer travel ball for the Team PA Cyclones.
