Jackson Twp man dies in mobile home fire

JACKSON TWP — A 67-year-old man died Thursday night when his mobile home on Beahm Crest Lane caught fire.

The fire started just after 7 p.m.

Butler County Deputy Coroner John Hanovick said the man’s body was found in the home.

Hanovick said it appears the man died of smoke inhalation. The coroner did not name the man because his relatives have not been notified.

“We believe he was the owner of the home,” Hanovick said.

No one else was injured in the fire, Hanovick said.

The state police fire marshal is assisting Jackson Township police with the investigation.

Hanovick said the fire destroyed the mobile home.

“It was down to the ground when I got there,” he said, adding he was unable to offer more detail on what part of the home the man was found.

Crews were on the scene for hours. The Harmony Volunteer Fire Company was in command while multiple other departments assisted.

Hanovick said the home was in a rural area and was not close to neighboring properties.

“It was back a long driveway,” he said. “It was a rural area.”

Assistant Fire Chief Dale Hall reportedly said the fire appeared to start in an outside wood burner next to the mobile home.
