Monday — Police charged Erika D. Steightner, 31, of Center Township in the theft of property at the YMCA on North Washington Street.YMCA staff notified police of the alleged crime Nov. 18. Employees told police several items were taken from the locker room during a swim team practice. The stolen property included clothing items, a cell phone, an eyeglass case and $3.Later, authorities reviewed the facility's surveillance video, which showed Steightner leaving the locker room during the time the items were allegedly taken. Police said she was the only person who was in the area at the time.YMCA staff inspected the locker that Steightner was using that week and found some of the stolen items, documents said.Police spoke to Steightner at the YMCA and she allegedly admitted taking the property. She is charged with misdemeanor theft.

1:05 p.m. Monday — Jonathan Ciora, 31, of Valencia and Jessica McMaster, 22, of Callery were both hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 near Oakdale Drive. The wreck happened when a car that Ciora was driving struck the car, stopped on the berm, that McMaster was driving.Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Butler Township Fire District 3 and Butler Ambulance Service assisted police at the scene.

Thursday — Police charged Willford J. Charmley, 25, of Butler with doing “doughnuts” in a pickup truck in a hay field on Meridian Road earlier this month.A witness told police that about 7 a.m. Nov. 9 he saw a Dodge pickup in the field owned by the Brownsdale Corp. The witness followed the truck long enough to get the license plate number.Later that day, the farm manager for the Brownsdale Corp. found the damaged hay field. Damage was estimated at $1,442.Police used the license plate number to track down Charmley. Troopers spoke to him on Nov. 17. He admitted to driving through the hay field in his 1997 Dodge Dakota and doing several doughnuts, documents said.“He also expressed desires to correct the damages and make all necessary restitution,” a police affidavit said.Charmley is charged with agricultural vandalism, a first-degree misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a second-degree misdemeanor.Thursday — Joseph P. Gaiser, 28, of Connoquenessing was charged for his alleged role in a summer theft. Police previously arrested Gaiser's girlfriend in the alleged crime at Greg and Debra Krelow's home and business on Beacon Road.Investigators said Gaiser's girlfriend, Tasha E. Lutz, 24, of Renfrew, was working for the Krelows, who own the Beacon Hotel bar and restaurant that is adjacent to the couple's home, when she allegedly took jewelry items from the home and about $80 from the business.Police later linked Lutz and Gaiser to six metal transactions in July and September, court documents said. The suspects allegedly sold jewelry stolen from the Krelows at a gold store in Butler Township and at a jewelry store in Butler.Lutz on Sept. 24 was interviewed and allegedly admitted taking jewelry, a watch and other items from the victims' home on three separate occasions between mid-July and Sept. 23, documents said. She still had with her a purse and bracelet belonging to Debra Krelow, police said.She told police that she was responsible for taking the items but implicated Gaiser, who she claimed helped pawn the items.“(Lutz) stated that she would give (Gaiser) a few dollars for the efforts,” a police affidavit said.Police on Sept. 24 charged Lutz with felony counts of theft, conspiracy to commit theft and receiving stolen property. Her case is pending in Butler County Court. She remains free on non-monetary bail.Police interviewed Gaiser on Oct. 1 at the Butler County Prison, where he was being held on an unrelated criminal case. He corroborated Lutz's account of the suspected crime, documents said.Gaiser was arraigned Friday on felony counts of conspiracy to commit theft and receiving stolen property, and he is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

12:40 p.m. Monday — David L. Piper, 34, of Butler was arrested for drugged driving and felony possession at the Sheetz store on Route 356 in Buffalo Township.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Piper is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.Nov. 17 — Dustin J. Cunning, 26, of Connoquenessing Township was arrested on charges he stole a 1999 Ford Ranger belonging to Ryan Serbin last month.Police on Nov. 15 learned the stolen pickup truck, valued at $800, was in the parking lot of a Route 422 restaurant in Franklin Township. Troopers found the truck, which had no inspection and was uninsured, and were told that Cunning was seen driving it on several occasions.Police said during their investigation they determined that Cunning had also allegedly stolen other items, including a turbo heater, two tractors and a power drill, from another man. Those items were allegedly traded for money.Additionally, police said Cunning allegedly threatened the other man's life.Troopers on Nov. 16 spoke to Cunning at his home. He admitted he had been driving the truck, documents said.He was arrested and arraigned on felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.The suspect also was arraigned on summary charges of harassment, driving without insurance and driving a vehicle without valid inspection. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail following arraignment.

2 p.m. Monday — Cars driven by Kimberly A. Faus, 54, of Shelocta, Indiana County, and Alice J. Olinger, 61, of Kittanning collided on Route 268 at Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Faus was cited for a flashing red traffic light violation.
