Ruth Evelyn Mahood Hanna

Ruth Evelyn Mahood Hanna, 93, passed away Sunday at Humility House in Austintown, Ohio.

She was born on May 26, 1921, in Butler County, the daughter of the late James and Mollie Mahood and was one of 10 children.

Ruth married Robert L. Hanna on Oct. 19, 1951. Robert passed away on Jan. 10, 2004.

Ruth was a lifelong member of The Church of God of Prophecy.

She spent several years as Pennsylvania's state music and marching band director. As a pastor's wife with a degree in pastoral operations of 30 years, she served and blessed more people than we will ever know. Her greatest passion was her love of service in Christian music, and later in life her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Joan E. Bowser of Cortland, Ohio, and Robin L. (Roy) Tilton of Girard, Ohio; her brother, Harold Mahood of Boyers; her six grandchildren, Amy (Bruce) Montgomery of Austintown, Ohio, Douglas (Leslie Bowser) of Hudson, Ohio, Jeffrey (Marci Bowser) of Warren, Ohio, Kevin Bowser of Girard, Ohio, Kristin (Craig) Baker of Girard, Ohio, and Ben Tilton of Girard, Ohio, and her 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her four brothers, Richard, John, Duane and Joe, and her four sisters, Helen, Aldene, Nellie and Jean.

The family would like to thank Humility House of Austintown, Ohio, and Hospice of the Valley, Ohio, for their very special love and God-giving care.
