McBride, Deal lead KSAC fall honorees

Josh McBride of Moniteau and Cody Deal of Karns City have been named Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Big School football MVPs for this season.

McBride received the Offensive MVP honor after carrying 147 times for 1,420 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Warriors. Moniteau’s season ended at 5-6 following a 7-6 District 9 playoff loss at St. Marys.

Deal, a linebacker, picked up Defensive MVP honors for the Gremlins. He had 58 tackles in eight games this year, along with 2.5 quarterback sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Karns City (9-1) takes on St. Marys (8-3) for the District 9 Class AA championship at 7 p.m. Friday at Clarion University’s Memorial Stadium.
