Freeport beats Valley, 39-30

Golden Knights win 2nd straight

Freeport may not be going to the WPIAL football playoffs, but the Yellowjackets closed the regular season with a bang Friday night.

Andrew Romanchak rushed for three touchdowns and tossed a pair of scoring passes as Freeport (5-4) outlasted rival Valley, 39-30.

Romanchak connected with Justin Brestensky from 22 yards out and Dylan Hochbein from 32 yards away. His rushing touchdowns — all in the second half — were runs of 62, 1 and 62 yards.

Hochbein returned a kickoff 94 yards for Freeport's first touchdown of the night. Philip Petit threw two touchdown passes for Valley.

Union 42, Clarion-Limestone 6No details were available on this game as the Golden Knights improved to 4-5 overall, 2-2 in division play.Union quarterback Lane Cicciarelli entered the contest needing just 65 yards passing to reach 1,600 for the year. Cole Morris needed two yards for 700 receiving.

St. Marys 35, Moniteau 6Kyle Glatt had 11 carries for 130 yards and four touchdowns for St. Marys, which likely earned a home playoff game with this win.T.J. Hogan added 75 yards rushing and a touchdown.Moniteau (5-4) was limited to 60 yards offensively. The Warriors' lone touchdown was a 79-yard kickoff return by Derek Boben in the third quarter.

Grove City 55, Warren 21Kameron Patterson threw for 252 yards and four touchdowns as the Eagles got their first win of the season and the first win for first-year coach Sam Mowrey.Patterson connected with Jared Graham for touchdowns of 31 and 48 yards and also found Justin Orlowski from 12 yards out as Grove City (1-8, 1-6) built a 27-7 lead at the half.Patterson threw his fourth TD pass of the night to Jared Burk in the fourth quarter.Tanner Lucido rushed for 110 yards on 19 carries to lead the Eagles' ground game.Grove City rolled up 500 total yards of offense in the rout.The win broke a 10-game losing streak for the Eagles, who will close the season Thursday against Northgate.

Keystone 49, A-C Valley 0Jake Weaver and Zach Stiglitz both scored two touchdowns in the first quarter for the Panthers (3-6). Weaver scored three touchdowns on the night.Stiglitz scored on a blocked punt return and touchdown reception.The winless Falcons were limited to 25 yards offensively.

Laurel 63, Summit Academy 20The winless Knights closed the regular season with this road loss.
