Butler County's great daily newspaper

No need for speed

I travel to and from work on one of Butler County’s busiest stretches of road, Route 8. Driving to work, my doctor’s office or other necessities requires me to use this bustling highway at least five times a week.

Recently, though, I have noticed that those who took an oath to protect and serve the public and uphold the law enjoy breaking one law of the road. Apparently, some state troopers, deputy sheriffs and other law enforcement officers think driving faster than 65 mph on Route 8, while not responding to an emergency, is totally acceptable.

We all know that speeding, especially doing it blatantly for no reason, is dangerous.

I hope this letter is read by the necessary people in charge and brings a stop to this. We pay our taxes so that these law enforcement entities can help keep us safe and secure at home, at the workplace, at shopping areas, and on the road, not endanger us even more.
