Make it, take it workshop slated

EVANS CITY — The deadline is Oct. 30 to register for a Make It and Take It Workshop at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 at the Evans City Public Library, 204 S. Jackson St.

Participants will make a fabric-covered memo board. Supplies can be purchased at the workshop.

Essay contest deadline nears

BRADYS BEND — Oct. 31 is the deadline for submissions to the Bradys Bend American Legion Bishop-Madden Post 488 fall essay contest for sixth graders at Chicora and Sugarcreek Elementary Schools.

The essay must describe three things a student can do to show a veteran they are grateful for the veteran’s service.

Monetary prizes will be given for first, second and third place in each school.

Essays can be typed or hand written and will be scored on content, effort, spelling and organization.

Appraisals of antiques offered

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Institute for Learning in Retirement will host an antique appraisal fair the afternoon of Nov. 8.

Church sets used clothing sale

ZELIENOPLE — St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., will have its third annual used clothing sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Blue Room under the church.

There will be clothing and outerwear for the entire family. Proceeds will benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Butler.

Christmas bazaar planned

HARRISVILLE — Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company will hold a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at its fire hall, 313 E. Mercer St.

The bazaar will include a Chinese auction and refreshments will be available.

Club hosts tea luncheon

SAXONBURG — GFWC Saxonburg District Woman’s Club will hold the Pretty ‘n Pink Tea Luncheon from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at Saxonburg Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Main St.

The event will include entertainment and a basket auction.

Lighthouse holds computer classes

The Lighthouse Foundation, 1302 E. Cruikshank Road, will offer free computer classes starting the week of Nov. 3.

The classes will be computer for beginners, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and digital photography.
