Freeport QB sets passing record

Andrew Romanchak had a night to remember.

The Freeport senior quarterback threw for a school-record 442 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for score as the Yellowjackets rolled past Burrell, 50-10, in an Allegheny Conference game Friday night.

Romanchak also set the career passing record for Freeport in the win.

“It's unbelievable,” Romachak said. “It's one of the goals I set when I was younger and it feels so great to finally achieve it, especially with all the great quarterbacks to come through Freeport.”

Romanchak, though, spread out the praise.

“But I couldn't have done any of it without my coaches and teammates,” he said.

Wide receiver Dylan Hochbein, also had a big night.

Hochbein hauled in eight passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. Romanchak threw his five TD passes to three different receivers.

Brandon Hochbein also had a 50-yard TD reception. Marshall McCormick had the other three — 11 yards, 13 yards and 75 yards.

Romanchak was 19-of-28 passing as the Yellowjackets (4-4, 4-4) led 37-3 at the half.

Union 32, Ridgway 7Lane Cicciarelli threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns and also scored a rushing TD as Union stunned previously unbeaten Ridgway in a non-conference game.Casey Confer scored on a 2-yard run and Cicciarelli found Cole Morris with a pass for the 2-point conversion for a 8-0 Union lead.Ridgway cut it to 8-7 with a 7-yard run by Ben MacDonald before Union seized complete control.Cicciarelli threw TD passes of 68 yards to Chet Carmichael and 23 yards to Morris for a 24-7 lead.Cicciarelli's 1-yard plunge capped the scoring in the third quarter.Union (3-5) was 4-for-4 on two-point conversions with Cicciarelli connecting with receivers for all four.

Hickory 48, Grove City 12Freshman quarterback Luke Brennan threw for 131 yards and three touchdowns as the Hornets rolled.Joey DeJulia had all three receiving touchdowns for Hickory (6-2, 4-2) and 126 yards.The loss is the 10th straight for Grove City (0-8, 0-6) dating back to last season.

Brookville 26, A-C Valley 6Zach Muhl was 8-of-17 passing for 85 yards and a touchdown, but Brookville staved off the Falcons.Anthony Painter caught three passes for 31 yards and the one touchdown for A-C Valley (0-8).Evan Redding had eight tackles, a sack and blocked a punt for the Falcons.
