Steven and Jessica Ayer

Jessica Nebel of Butler and Steven Ayer of Hershey were united in marriage May 3 at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center in University Park. Danny Nebel led the ceremony, which was officially witnessed by Jennifer Drake and Tim Nebel. A reception followed at Toftrees Resort in State College.

The bride is the daughter of David and Denise Nebel of Butler. Parents of the bridegroom are Ken and Joan Ayer of Chantilly, Va.

Bridesmaids included Stephanie Nebel, Buffy Ward, Lynzie Nebel, Angie Urban, Ashley Bohler, Kelley Pierce, Heather Warheit and Jacqui Fanelli.

Ushers included Peter Drake, Phil Wessell, Ryan Smith, Kyle Stilley, Nick Fanelli, Tom Parke and Mark Hedglin.

The ring bearer was Brody Drake.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Butler High School and a 2005 graduate of Penn State University.

The bridegroom graduated from Hershey High School in 2003. He graduated from Penn State University in 2008 and received a doctoral degree in 2013.

He is employed by Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Following a honeymoon trip to Montreal, the couple is making their home in Tempe.
