Rader leads Butler runners

Mars' Julea Frye (17) gets a kill over Hampton's Kali Kobet during the Planets' 3-0 girls volleyball victory Tuesday night.

Josh Rader won the boys race with a scintillating time of 16 minutes, 47 seconds as the Butler boys cross country team beat Mars, 23-32, and toppled Shaler, 16-47, Tuesday afternoon.

The Mars boys were led by Brendan Knox, who finished second with a time of 16:58 to help the Planets salvage a split with a 18-45 win over Shaler.

The Butler girls also earned a sweep, winning 25-30 over Mars and 20-43 over Shaler.

Maggie Welty finished second for the Golden Tornado with a time of 20:06.

Mars' top finisher was Sydney Cole, who placed fourth with a time of 21:09. The Planets beat Shaler 20-43.
