Homecoming parade scheduled Saturday

GROVE CITY — Grove City College’s annual homecoming parade will roll through town at 11 a.m. Saturday.

This year’s parade theme is “Hollywood Movies,” and the college’s fraternities and sororities have crafted eight blockbuster floats for the extravaganza. They’ll take the show on the road along with six high school marching bands and the Grove City College Marching Band.

Also featured will be the college’s homecoming court, winners of the Jack Kennedy Memorial Alumni Achievement Award, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, campus organizations, service organizations and businesses and fire trucks and candy for children.

College President Paul McNulty will preside over his first parade after beginning his tenure as the college’s ninth president in August.

The homecoming football game between the Wolverines of Grove City College and the Waynesburg University Yellowjackets follows the parade at 2 p.m. at Thorn Field. Pre-game festivities, including crowning of the homecoming queen and king, begin at 1:15 p.m.

High school bands marching in the parade include Grove City, Reynolds, Conneaut, Moniteau, Lincoln and Seneca Valley.
