AAUW book sale set this weekend

Butler Branch AAUW will hold its 48th annual used book sale from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Center Court at the Clearview Mall. Bargain bags of books will be sold from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The sale includes hardcover and paperback books on topics ranging from history to mystery and from romance to science fiction. Children’s books; cookbooks; references on sports, recreation and travel; DVDs; and CDs also will be sold.

The proceeds will benefit local and national education programs and scholarships.

Autumn home ideas offered

The Butler Area Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., will host representatives from The Home Depot from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9.

They will present “All Around the House this Fall” with holiday decorating ideas and practical tips for preparing a house for winter.

The program is free but registration is encouraged. To register, call the library at 724-287-1715 or send an e-mail to rlandau@bcfls.org.

Academy hosts auction Oct. 11

Butler Wesleyan Academy, 590 Protzman Road, will have a basket and household item auction at noon Oct. 11.

The event includes a bake sale and snack bar.

Caregiver support group will meet

JEFFERSON TWP — Concordia Adult Day Services has a monthly Alzheimer’s caregiver support group meetings at 2 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month in the private dining room at the Lund Care Center, 134 Marwood Road.

The next meetings are Oct. 14 and Nov. 11. Both meetings are free. The group includes caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Free adult care is available.

Lake Arthur leaf cruises resume

Nautical Nature Fall Foliage cruises on Lake Arthur are available weekdays and weekends throughout the peak leaf season.

For dates, times and reservations, call the Owlet Gift Shop at 724-368-9185.

There will be a Halloween cruise at 3 p.m. Oct. 25 with snacks, decorations, prizes, games and a professional story teller. Reservations are suggested.

St. Ferdinand offers auto raffle tickets

CRANBERRY TWP — St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, has tickets available through Nov. 15 for its 2014 auto raffle.

The first prize is a 2014 Cadillac Luxury ATS plus $5,000. The drawing is Nov. 15.
