Truck event was great

On behalf of the officers and members of the Slippery Rock Lions Club, we wish to thank everyone who played a role in the success of our second annual Touch A Truck event Sept. 20 in the parking lot of the Slippery Rock Giant Eagle.

A special thank-you goes to the companies and organizations that graciously provided the 23 displays. They included Armstrong Cable, B&J Trucking, Castle Builders Supply Inc., Clem’s Trailer Sales, K&M Septic Tank Cleaning, Landstar, McClymonds Supply & Transit, Pitchford Diversified Inc., Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department, Slippery Rock University Campus Police Department, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Co. & Rescue Team, Sam Thompson, U.S. Army 475th Quartermaster Company and Walsh Equipment.

The event would not have been a success without the wonderful turnout of spectators. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, as well.

The Touch A Truck event was one of a series of projects undertaken each year by the Slippery Rock Lions Club, which also co-sponsors the Slippery Rock Halloween parade and party, the hanging of holiday lights in downtown Slippery Rock and the ringing of the Salvation Army bell during the holidays.

The Slippery Rock Lions, whose ages range from 16 to 92, are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest civic service organization with more than 1.36 million members worldwide. Lions projects are dedicated to serve individuals with sight, hearing and other health-related ailments as well as supporting community service projects.
