Shots fired during robbery, police say

CRANBERRY TWP — A suspected robber fired two shots in the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 19 before making off with an undisclosed amount of money during a robbery Sunday morning.

Cranberry Township police in a press release this afternoon said there were no injuries, and added that the suspect fled on foot toward the vicinity of Victory Family Church, across Route 19 from the gas station.

A K-9 police dog from the Evans City Police Department was called to the scene to help track the suspect. The dog tracked the suspect's scent and followed it until losing it, indicated the robber likely drove away in a getaway car.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his 30s, about 5'7” tall and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

He had a winter hat pulled down over his eyes to conceal his identity during the robbery, which took place about 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police also said the suspect has a tattoo on his right hand resembled the Pittsburgh Pirates' “P” logo, along with a smaller star tattoo below.

Anyone with information related to the robbery or the suspect are urged to contact Cranberry police at 724-776-5180.
