SUMMIT TWP — A hearing scheduled for Wednesday about a conditional use permit that XTO Energy is requesting for a compressor station has been canceled.

The hearing began in August, but was continued until this month because the township supervisors and residents wanted representatives from XTO who could provide more information.

Township secretary Roxann Stickney said this morning that XTO wanted more time to gather information, so it asked for Wednesday’s meeting to be canceled. She said the hearing, which was to have been at the Herman Fire Hall, has not been rescheduled.

In August, about 45 people attended the hearing, many of whom spoke against the station, which would help move natural gas from well pads to plants for further processing. The station is proposed to be on more than 140 acres zoned for residential use off Herman Road.
