2 hurt when motorcycle hits jogger

PENN TWP — Two people were hurt Sunday afternoon when a motorcycle struck a woman jogging on the side of Jones Road, authorities said.

Jennifer Ritts McManus was reportedly flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries.

McManus suffered injuries to her right wrist, forearm and thigh, according to a Penn Township police report. Her condition was not known this morning.

Kyle Watts, 20, of Valencia, who was driving the motorcycle also was hurt, the Butler County Communications Center said. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known. Butler Memorial Hospital had no listing for him having been treated there.

Police said Watts’ cycle struck McManus about 3 p.m. on Jones Road just south of Brownsdale Road and north of the Ritts Wood Golf Club. The police report was incomplete and no other information was released this morning.

The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted police. Fire department officers could not be reached for comment.

Middlesex Township police and Butler Ambulance Service also were called to the scene.
