12:47 a.m. Saturday — Jamie J. Mellish, 34, of East Butler was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he allegedly instigated a fight with two city men.Police said Mellish walked up to a house in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue and tried to start a fight with the occupants, John J. Dunmyer Jr., 27, and Todd D. Dunmyer, 26, over a woman.Mellish allegedly punched Todd Dunmyer in the face, knocking him to the ground. Police said Mellish tried to use a rock to hit Todd Dunmyer when John Dunmyer stepped in to defend his brother.The three men fought until police arrived at the scene. At that point, Mellish fled through neighboring yards until officers caught up with him along a nearby alley.Police found Mellish to be intoxicated and he was arrested.

Friday — Two people are facing drug possession charges following a single-car accident on Prospect Road in Connoquenessing Township.Police said a 42-year-old New Castle woman and a 26-year-old West Sunbury man were found to have narcotics. Charges of DUI are pending results of a blood test. Police did not name either person involved.6:19 a.m. Thursday — A two-car accident occurred at the intersection of Route 8 and Sunset Drive in Center Township.Police said an SUV driven by Sarah Claypool, 48, of Mercer failed to stop for traffic and hit the back of a pickup truck driven by Justin P. Henthorn, 38, of Slippery Rock.Claypool was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.5:25 p.m. Aug. 21 — Police are searching for two unknown men suspected of simple assault.Police said the men assaulted James Brewer Jr., 50, of Chicora along the 200-block of Center Drive in Oakland Township during a road rage incident. Brewer lost teeth during the attack.The suspects were driving what was described as a green Chevrolet truck.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-284-8100.

10:30 p.m. Friday — A 59-year-old Petrolia man was arrested for suspected DUI following a traffic stop along Kennerdell Road near Old Lisbon Road in Clinton Township, Venango County.The man, who police did not name, was stopped after his vehicle made multiple traffic violations.Charges are pending blood test results.
