2 people hurt in Dinnerbell Road crash

JEFFERSON TWP — Two people were injured Friday night when two vehicles crashed head-on in the 500-block of Dinnerbell Road.

Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Chief Chris Ballina said a Chevrolet TrailBlazer and a pickup truck collided about 10:15 p.m.

Ballina said the middle-aged man in the TrailBlazer sustained a compound fracture in his leg and was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Saxonburg Ambulance also transported the middle-aged male driver of the pickup truck to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

State police are investigating the accident. They had no report available this morning.

Ballina said it was unclear what caused the crash, but said both vehicle sustained significant damage.

“They were 200 feet apart when we got there,” he said.

Ballina said the TrailBlazer's driver was conscious at the scene. Rescuers had to cut the man from the vehicle.

All units were back in service by 12:26 a.m.
