Richard Dale 'Rich' Sefton

Richard Dale “Rich” Sefton, 59, of Saxonburg passed away Monday at his home in his sleep of natural causes.

Born on Feb. 26, 1955, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of the late James “Ted” and Vivian Cook Sefton.

Rich was a 1973 graduate of Knoch High School. He worked as a machine operator for Redland Brick Inc. in Cheswick and also as a bus driver for W.L. Roenigk.

He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sarver. Rich also attended New Life Christian Ministries.

He served 28 years on the South Butler County School Board. Rich also served on the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV in Grove City and the Butler County Vo-Tech Board.

He coached soccer for both his son and daughter. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He also enjoyed the outdoors, collecting coins, history and politics. Rich was a hard worker and family was very important to him. He was a very loving and caring husband and father.

Surviving are his loving wife, Dora Thiele Sefton, who he married on Oct. 18, 1975; his son, Ed Sefton of Springfield, Ohio; his daughter, Katie Sefton of West Mifflin; his sister, Nancy (Mike) McCarren of Butler; his seven nieces and nephews, Hilary, Dana and Van McCarren, Andy and Bill Freehling, and William and James Thiele, and his mother in law, Sara Thiele of Cabot.

He is also sadly missed by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Sally Thiele and David Ward, Arlene Thiele and Chip Freehling, and Edward and Lorraine Thiele.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Walter Thiele.

Sefton — The friends of Richard Dale “Rich” Sefton, who passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 210 Westminster Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Deborah Huffmyer officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, P.O.
