John and Dorothy West

John C. and Dorothy Hite West of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a cruise of the British Isles ending in Normandy, France, for the 70th anniversary of D-Day, June 6.

West married the former Dorothy Hite on Aug. 29, 1964, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in New Castle.

They have two children and eight grandchildren.

West retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare.

Mrs. West was a teacher for 32 years, most of those at Butler High School.

The couple enjoys their golf leagues in Butler and other golf destinations. Reading, gardening and travel are other interests. They are involved in several organizations.

The Wests are members of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
