Coroner's office investigates crash death of Cranberry Township woman

JACKSON TWP — Township police have identified the woman who died this morning in a crash off Route 19 as Sharon Petrich, 66, of Cranberry Township.

The Butler County Coroner’s office is investigating the case to determine the cause of death.

Township police Chief Terry Seilhamer said Petrich’s car sustained heavy damage to the front and to the undercarriage.

Police believe the car may have gone off the road several hours before it was discovered just before 8 a.m.

The accident happened on northbound Route 19 just before the Zelienople on-ramp to Interstate 79.

Seilhamer said the woman had just descended the long hill past Route 528 when her car veered to the right, went through the guardrail and down an embankment.
