Woman dies in accident

Crash this morning at Route 68, Eberhart

BUTLER TWP — A woman was killed this morning in a two-car collision at the intersection of Route 68 and Eberhart Road.

Township police Sgt. Nathan Teslik said the woman’s car was northbound on Eberhart when the second car struck the driver’s side of her vehicle.

The impact sent the woman’s car into the lawn of 398 Evans City Road, also known as Route 68.

The other driver was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The drivers’ names were unavailable.

The accident was reported to Butler County 911 at 6:46 a.m.

North Eberhart Road was closed until the accident was cleared. Police are investigating the cause.

Township resident Richard Cox, whose yard sits across North Eberhart Road from where the woman’s car stopped, heard the crash.

“I came running outside,” Cox said. “I knew right away what it was.”

Cox said the intersection has been the site of numerous accidents due to speeding since he moved there last September.

“There’s at least one accident every other month,” Cox said.

He added that one morning he came outside to see a car under his pine tree.

“This is a bad intersection,” Cox said. “I used to work for PennDOT. I can’t remember seeing wrecks like I’ve seen in the last year.”
