Renfrew man dies late Friday night in crash



CONNOQUENESSING — A Renfrew man died late Friday night following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Route 68.
State police said a car driven by Eugene K. Ludwik, 62, pulled on to Route 68 about 11:10 p.m. and was struck by a Ford Explorer driven by Madison T. Labon, 20, of Butler.
Butler County Chief Deputy Coroner John Hanovick said Saturday morning that Ludwik died of head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hanovick said it is believed Ludwik’s Chevrolet Cavalier drove through the stop sign while heading west on the avenue.
“He was struck broadside by a northbound car,” Hanovick said.
Ludwik was not wearing a seat belt.
Hanovick said Ludwik died as emergency units attempted to remove him from the car.
Labon’s vehicle struck a guard rail and rolled over after colliding with Ludwick’s car, Hanovick said.
She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, according to police reports.
The Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company and the Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
